‘Making Sense Of It All’ is Amie Grisold’s debut album, following her 2017 four track ep ‘Spun’. The nine track
album is solely written by Amie, with the style of the tracks being described as “pop catchiness in folky instrumentation”. Lyrically the songs are themed around friendship, love, support and coming of age- and all the positive and negative emotions that come with these things. Amie has described the album as “a lot of fun to make.
The tracks all started out as lyrical ideas and were written acoustically, so we’ve tried to both keep the honesty that comes with that sort of writing style whilst also adding more up-beat pop vibes into the songs, which is something we’re really excited about.” The album is also up and coming sound engineer Farzin Iranfar’s production debut, with all songs (aside from track 5 and 8) being recorded, mixed and mastered by the nineteen-year-old producer, as well as composing extra melodic and electronic components for the songs.
The album’s lead single ‘Should’ve Backed Down’ was released on June 18. The song is about the moment in an argument with someone you love when you realise you’ve taken it too far and should have realised that person was more important han the argument you were having, but it’s too late.
The music video, recorded by David Blake in the Alexandra Shire Hall is out now:
