Where are you currently based and what is the music scene like there?  Madrid, it's getting better now, used to be an amazing place to party but many places have closed in recent years due to some changes in the local government and the credit crunch, luckily things are looking a bit better these days. How did you first start playing music?  Bought a pair of second-hand 1200 Technics Turntables when I was 13, didn't know much about what I was doing at the time, all I wanted was to experiment with music somehow... What's been happening recently?  Quite a lot, just got back from a small tour in the US, we are opening a new Deeplomatic Recordings office, preparing everything for the release of my EP Jungle Fever and working on the Asia Tour 2019 - 2020. Your new EP ‘Jungle Fever’ will be out on September 27, what influenced the sound and songwriting?  Wanted to create something a bit different, mixing natural and animal sounds. I used to live in Africa for 2 years and always wanted to add a bit of this African experience, but keeping the same music style. How did you go about writing the music for Jungle Fever?  Found the perfect jungle sounds, then I build the track on top of them. Where and when did you record/produce?  Various locations, but mainly in my studio in Madrid or while touring in the planes. What programs/instruments did you use?  Ableton Live, Push2, Roli seaboard, Komplete 11, OP1, TR8S, etc... What did you find most challenging and rewarding during the creation of Jungle Fever?  Trying to match and adjust the jungle sounds with the rest was a bit of a challenge. Where and when will you be touring next?  Europe during October and November and then Asia / Australia, from December to mid February. How do you prepare for shows?  I look on the clubs social media to see who has played there before so I can get an idea of the public and what they would like. Most memorable performance and why?  Difficult to mention just one, but I'd say Colombia Burning Man 2016, it was the first time they were doing this event in Colombia, the people were really looking forward for that event, there was an incredible energy and vibe among these people, really enjoyed playing there. You're also the Deeplomatic Recordings Label Manager, how and why was Deeplomatic Recordings created?  I had been working for the Spanish Embassy for a couple of years, and was a bit tired of all the office live, even though I got to travel a lot, I wanted to do something I really liked..... guess where the name Deeplomatic comes from hahaha Please tell us a little about what you do on a day to day basis at Deeplomatic Recordings?  A bit of everything, but I’m mainly managing the label´s releases and the events and showcases at Deeplomatic. What projects do you have coming up?  Working on several things in the studio at them moment, but not planning to release anything at least till 2020. How do you decide which artists to work with?  Trying to find people that you get along with, and also have the same music criteria. What else are you working on at the moment projects/businesses?  I am also the co-owner and content manager at Hype TV (www.hypetv.es), a Spanish production company that focuses on traveling, entertainment, food, music and lifestyle. We are also about to launch a new jewellery company called Hades Creations (www.hadescreations.com). It's a brand that aims to keep age-old traditions alive by processing each jewel and metal by hand, all pieces are customizable and one of a kind. What do you like to do away from music?  I'm a technology freak, so basically anything that has to do with futuristic gadgets gets me entertained, also like to travel to strange and remote locations, like the feeling of uncertainty and getting lost. Who are you listening to at the moment?  Lately I'm listening to a lot to Marvin & Guy and Palms Trax, grrreat music! What's planned for the remainder of 2019 going into 2020?  Playing this week in Paris and Vienna, then got 2 label showcases in Spain and a festival in Ghent (Belgium), then starting the Asia tour in the beginning of December (back to summer again! haha) Favourite food and place to hangout?  Unagui (Japanese style served Eel), The Loft (current house, best place for fun & after parties) Website: www.alexferrer.eu Instagram: https://instagram.com/alexferrermusic Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/alexferrermusic Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/alexferrermusic Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/alexferrermusic Spotify: http://bit.ly/afspotify  Twitter: https://twitter.com/alexferrermusic Resident Advisor: https://www.residentadvisor.net/dj/alexferrer
