What is your name and role within Aiming For Enrike?

Simen Følstad Nilsen, I play guitar.

How did you start?

We went to a music school together for one year in 2010. We had both seen a Norwegian duo called Monolithic who also plays with loops, and quickly found out that we wanted to play in a duo together.

Where are you based?

We live in Oslo.

Please give an example of your music writing process?

Our songs are often a result of what happens when we improvise together. If something cool happens when we play, we work on that idea and if it works we arrange it into a song.

What are you working on right now?

We have just mastered our third LP «Las Napalmas» which we started recording in december 2016, and are now working on the artwork for the cover. Since we´re always making new music we have allready started on new material witch will probably end up on the next album.

What is your gear setup?

Pedals: Dr. Scientist Boost n´Buff, Line 6 DL4, Behringer – Ultra Vibrato, Ohlala – Truly Beautiful Disaster, T.C Electronics Hall of Fame, Boss RC3, Roland footswitch of some kind, boss tuner, Boss OC3, Boss DD6, Moogerfooger Ring Modulator, Digitech Whammy.

Amps: Vox AC30, Fender Super Reverb 1976(ish), some bass amp.

What do you like to do outside of music and does it affect your music?

I don´t really do much else than music, but when i don´t do anything music related i like being with friends. I guess everything around me effects the music I make in some way.

How would you describe your music genre?

I don´t know. It´s got something to do with a lot of different genres. It´s kind of a mash up between me and Tobias´ (the drummer) musical identity. We like much of the same music, but we also have vastly different musical tastes. Together we make something that none of us would be able to make on our own.

Do you know any music theory?

Yes. It comes in handy sometimes, but I don´t think about it as much now as I used to.

What are your plans for the future?

We want to play as much as possible. We are currently booking concerts in Norway, Europe and Asia. Hopefully some day we will also get to go to the beautiful country of Australia.

How did you get into music?

I have always listened to music. I listened to Michael Jackson when i was 4-5 years old. The band that made me want to learn to play guitar was Metallica. I discovered them when i was 12.

What are you listening to at the moment?

Today i listened to Big Star, Big Walnuts Yonder and Joan of Arc.
