King Krule today releases ‘Alone, Omen 3’, the second single from his forthcoming album Man Alive! out Friday 21 February via XL Recordings / Remote Control Records. The track comes with a video directed by Archy Marshall’s close friend Jocelyn Anquetil and was co-written by the artist and director.  Featuring Archy surrounded by his friends, band mates and collaborators, the video backs up the message that “you’re not alone”.  “I felt like I had gotten out of a dark place, and I was on a high. I appreciated the depression… but I also liked how I felt better in the here and now”.  Archy Ivan Marshall has the world at his feet. After two feverishly received albums as King Krule, plus another low-key outing under his own name, this extraordinarily gifted 25-year-old from Peckham in South London adds further depth and substance to his oeuvre with another wondrous long-player called Man Alive!. It arrives packed full of his trademark sonic ambition and compositional skill, as well as the now-familiar corrosive lyricism and lurid social observation. Marshall has emerged as a pack leader amongst his peers, leading the charge in a fearless blurring of genre divisions, one minute seeming to drag the listener through the trashiest punk experience, the next ushering in a soundworld that’s apparently hi-tech and forward-looking. Like any great artist on the rise, Archy’s life is moving fast. There’s a lot to catch up on, after 2017’s sprawling masterpiece, The Ooz, broke through amid Mercury Prize nominations and minds-blown media plaudits. Unlike that record, Man Alive! doesn’t aim to present any kind of narrative thread, or Brexit-era state-of-the-nation address, just a collection of snapshots and stories, artfully sequenced into a dazzlingly coherent whole. This third King Krule album was written as a direct reaction to the non-stop energy of touring The Ooz, and then partly recorded at Shrunken Heads in Marshall’s native stamping ground of Nunhead, with ‘Ooz’ co-producer Dilip Harris. Midway through those sessions, however, Archy found out he was going to become a dad for the first time, and he decided to move up to the North West to be near the mother’s family, ready for the baby’s arrival. “I should’ve had it all wrapped up before my daughter was born,” says Marshall today with a sheepish grin. Impending parenthood came at a felicitous moment for him, as he was beginning to feel trapped in South London’s suburban lifestyle of all-eclipsing drunkenness and depression, which existing fans will know was a recurring theme in his earlier music. “It was just the easiness of it,” he reflects today. “There really is nothing else to do here, especially when it turns to winter. Everyone I know has jobs, whereas I’d sit on my arse all day sometimes not doing anything, then I’d go to the pub with them when they finished work. It became a bit habitual. Then, right in the middle of the record, this big change came in my life that I didn't really comprehend initially. It was like, ‘Oh, I’d better get my shit together!’ To be honest, I was really glad to get away from all that so I could focus on more pressing matters – like keeping a child alive and stuff.” The new album’s title, he explains, “is an exclamation, about the times we live in. Like, ‘Fucking hell, man!’” He stole the title from a CD that his uncle gave him back in 2013 with some of his uncle’s own music on it, and originally planned to use it for his last album. “More and more,” he explains, “I've been put off by the intention of speaking about what's going on in society as a black-and-white thing, or trying to get to the bottom of why we’re in this position. So the album is mostly made up of snapshots and observations. There are a lot of real-time-and-place moments, songs talking about walking through the park just over there and getting a head injury [don’t ask! – Ed.], then there are other tracks which are just simplicity, looking at one particular situation and reflecting on it as somehow being super-profound.” Just as the lyrics are diverse in theme and purpose, so is the music: ‘Comet Face’ lopes along with irresistible unease like a wonky New Wave hit, and ‘Stoned Again’ packs all the inspired beatmongery of ’90s hip hop, while much of the record’s sparser second half recalls the lo-fi intimacy of Robert Wyatt’s ’80s solo work, or indeed the recordings of mass-murderer Charles Manson. As the concluding ‘Please Complete Thee’ sails out on upliftingly twangsome slide guitar, you’d be forgiven for imagining that some of the more agonizing preceding numbers have served as a kind of therapy for their creator. “Oh yeah,” he freely admits, “once you’re able to discuss things and talk honestly, there is no better way than just shouting it out at a bunch of people. I was always empowered by lyricism and getting my aggression out in some way, or any kind of emotion. That has always been a process for me. This time I felt like I had gotten out of a dark place, and I was on a high. I appreciated the depression, and the low times I’d been through, but I also liked how I felt better in the here and now. So it was about reaching that new plateau.” King Krule - Man Alive! 1. Cellular 2. Supermarché 3. Stoned Again 4. Comet Face 5. The Dream 6. Perfecto Miserable 7. Alone, Omen 3 8. Slinky 9. LUCA BRASI ANNOUNCE HEADLINE TOUR AND RELEASE NEW TRACK THIS SELFISH LOVE

Under the Southern Stars are thrilled to announce their spectacular Rock Carnival Festival Series coming to you this April 2020. Playing together for the first time in Australia will be  +LIVE+, BUSH and STONE TEMPLE PILOTS! Celebrating 25 years since the release of their iconic Throwing Copper album, +LIVE+ are one of the most beloved rock bands ever to tour the nation. During their career, +LIVE+ have achieved seven Top 5 albums in Australia, three of which topped the charts at #1 for a total of ten weeks! They have had a string of top 40 singles and Throwing Copper spent over two years in the Australian top 50 between 1994 and 1997. It has been certified 8 times platinum and was also the 8th highest selling album in Australia in 95/96. +LIVE+ reunited with original frontman Ed Kowalczyk in 2017 and have been blowing audiences away with their power ever since. From the rocking All Over You and I Alone to the glorious emotion of The Dolphin’s Cry and Lightning Crashes, +LIVE+ are playing with a vengeance and a vigor that reveals the band in top form and better than ever! BUSH have been a mainstay on Australian radios since the release of their debut album Sixteen Stone in 1994. The album was an instant smash spending 43 weeks in the Australian Top 50, peaking at #5. Glycerine, Everything Zen and Comedown are in the DNA of Aussie rock fans and are played daily on the airwaves to this day.  While the 90’s belonged to BUSH, they were on hiatus between 2001 and 2011 when they returned with The Sea Of Memories featuring The Sound Of Winter which made rock radio history in the US becoming the first self released song to ever hit #1 at Alternative Rock Radio! In 2019, BUSH came roaring back with the track Bullet Holes which is featured as the end title on the soundtrack to this summer's Hollywood blockbuster John Wick 3 Parabellum.  If you haven't seen Gavin Rossdale in the killer video for Bullet Holes, check it out here! One of the biggest rock acts of the 1990’s with over 50 million albums sold, Stone Temple Pilots broke out of the scene they helped to define into bonafide superstars. From their breakout debut album, Core, with legendary hits, Sex Type Thing, Creep, and Plush to Purple’s soaring Interstate Love Song and Big Empty and the late 90’s smash singles Big Bang Baby and Sour Girl, STP songs are the soundtrack of a generation. This year marks the 25th anniversary of STP’s Purple, one of the world’s top selling-albums in the 90s, that reached #1 on the Australian chart. In celebration, the band is releasing a super deluxe edition of the iconic album, featuring unreleased versions of album tracks and rarities, along with an unreleased full concert recording from 1994.   Stone Temple Pilots are reborn and writing the next chapter of their storied career, with their seventh studio album, Stone Temple Pilots (2018), their first with new lead singer, Jeff Gutt.   What more can be said about one of Australia’s longest running and most cherished rock acts? Rose Tattoo need no introduction but just in case you need a refresher, one of the pillars of Australia’s distinct pub rock sound have been spreading their message across the world for nearly 50 years! The Rock n Roll Outlaws, led by the one and only Angry Anderson, who at 72 years of age continues to show frontmen a quarter of his age, just how it's done, will pull no punches as they deliver a set full of classics. You know the words, you know the drill... Prepare to be Scarred For Life. Armed with their latest slab of pure rock n roll, Mother, Melbourne's legendary hard rockers, Electric Mary, will get the crowds primed for the evening ahead. Over their decade long career, Electric Mary have shared the world’s stages with some of the most revered names in hard rock including Whitesnake, Judas Priest, Deep Purple, Kiss, Alice Cooper, Motorhead, Def Leppard and many more, Their explosive brain-bending live performances at home and abroad are regarded as one of, if not the best live shows anywhere!.  While we can talk facts and figures all day, the fact remains, you know the bands, you love the songs. Under The Southern Stars gives you the opportunity to experience the greatest hits from some of the worlds' greatest bands all in the one day and night of incredible rock and roll!   THE UNDER THE SOUTHERN STARS VILLAGE More Than Just Music Under The Southern Stars will deliver more than great music alone with the introduction in April 2020 of.. It's been a long time coming: Kobosil will finally head Down Under in his highly anticipated debut Australian tour. The Berlin DJ/producer made global impact with releases through techno imprint, Ostgut Ton, and he follows in the footsteps of peers like Ben Klock and Marcel Dettmann to become one of the more celebrated residents of Berlin institution, Berghain. Not only is he considered one of techno's fastest rising DJs and producers, but he has helped pioneer a sound that is at once deep, fast and aggressive. His upbringing in the working-class district of Berlin's Neukölln, and the cathartic energy of EBM, noise and industrial, shaped this unique musical aesthetic. Aside from regularly releasing on Berghain's in-house label Ostgut Ton, Kobosil also runs his the R - Label Group imprint, which he uses as a platform to promote releases by up-and-coming Berlin producers at the forefront of a bleak and riotous approach to dance music. It's this combination of the dark and ecstatic that is at the foundation of Kobosil's powerful approach to techno.

Made up of Rachel Matkin, Barry Mathers, and Jim Ryan - Dirt Road Opera come from an esteemed musical background.  Rachel got her professional start singing with The Matkin Family Band at the tender age of eight and was nominated for a Juno award in the category of Country Female Vocalist of the year just a few years later on the strength of her solo debut album, Living Beyond Our Dreams. Barry, who many know from the Juno-nominated Cruzeros, is a veteran of the Canadian music scene who has been recognized with many awards for his singing, songwriting and instrumental talents. Jim has played with Mathers for ten years in the Cruzeros, along with Rachel. He's played with the who's who in the world of music. While each has their own style, sensibility and depth of expression they bring to the music, it’s perhaps together that they shine brightest, as audiences have come to appreciate. https://www.facebook.com/DirtRoadOpera/ https://twitter.com/dirtroadopera https://www.instagram.com/dirt_road_opera/ https://www.youtube.com/c/DirtRoadOpera

Dirt Road Opera – Rattlin’ Bones Premiere

What's your name and role within the band? My names Ben and I’m the bass player for Ava Kaydo. I also played drums for the recording of our debut single ‘Lucid’.   Where are you currently based and what is the music scene like there? We are currently based in Yeppoon/Rockhampton of Central Queensland. The music scene in this area is fairly lacking, with only a few original bands out and about. Being a rural area, cover bands are much more prominent.   What's been happening recently? Well we’ve just released our first ever single which feels so relieving. We’ve been holding onto this one for a few years now, and after recording it we could finally show everyone what we’ve been working on.    Your first single 'Lucid' has just been released, what influenced the sound and songwriting? The sound itself was just naturally inspired by our influences I suppose. At the time we had Ocean Alley’s album ‘Chiaroscuro’ on heavy rotation, and we were also taking notes from DMA’s newest material. But the song was pure improv and wasn’t really methodically written.  How did you go about writing Lucid? The process for writing ‘Lucid’ was very natural and spontaneous. It was one of those songs that came out of thin air. Sparked by an overwhelming moment of creativity, Jeremy our guitarist just started playing the main riff of the song and we just all started joining in. Within a matter of minutes the meat of the song was there and we we’re stoked with it. Maddy, our singer, layered her spacey vocals over the top and that was that.  The lyrics we’re written after Maddy had a bad sleep paralysis experience. Using the concept of ‘Lucid’ dreaming, Maddy used the words to turn the song into a positive retelling of what happened. A sort of therapy I suppose.  Where and when did you record/produce and who with? We recorded the track on October of 2019 in Brisbane. We worked with Paradox Audio Productions; a studio based out of our friend’s house. Blake and Rob really worked well with us and understood our vision. It really opened our eyes to how fun the recording process can be.    What programs/instruments did you use? We used guitar, bass, drums and vocals. And for programs we used the ol’ trusty pro tools.      Being from a rural area 'Yeppoon' what challenges do you face as a band? It’s hard to make connections with the industry, and we often need to travel to record and play gigs. It’s why we believe there needs to be more attention given to original live music in rural communities in towns such as Yeppoon. The live music community in our area has definitely improved over the last couple of years. However, the biggest challenge is definitely the isolation from the music industry.  What do you like to do away from music? If we aren’t playing music, we are usually listening to it over a couple of margaritas.    Who are you listening to at the moment? We are massive DMA’s fans and they are always playing when we are hanging out together. I myself have been obsessed with Pond’s ‘Hobo Rocket’ album recently. I’m also loving local Brisbane band Sunbather’s debut song ‘Softly Spoken’. It’s been on repeat for the last few days.    What's planned for 2020? 2020 is the year we get our shit together. With our first single out, we’re looking towards an EP in the near future. So, keep an eye out for new music.   Favourite food and place to hangout? We have a cheeky obsession with KFC. When we have a break from band practise it is usually our ritual to get ‘The Colonel’ for lunch. Favourite place to hang out is the beach.

NOEL GALLAGHER'S HIGH FLYING BIRDS

NOEL GALLAGHER’S HIGH FLYING BIRDS SHARE TITLE TRACK FROM NEW EP ‘BLUE MOON RISING’

Joris Voorn’s fourth studio album ‘\\\\’ has gained much praise since its release in November thanks to its expansive melodies and mixture of dancefloor grooves and more contemplative moments. Featuring collaborations with the likes of Underworld and HÆLOS, it marked another exciting chapter in the Dutch star’s discography.    2020 will see the emergence of a series of red hot remixes of the album, with the first remix pack featuring a brilliant rework by Colyn. On February 14, the second part of this remix pack will be completed by Yotto's version of 'Anitgone'.    The delicate broken beat melodics of album opener ‘Never’ get a more dancefloor-friendly version from rising Amsterdam star and Afterlife signing, Colyn. Creating a more introspective mood with his atmospheric 4/4 melodic techno touch, he retains the innocent, sorrow-tinged lead refrain in subtle fashion. Driving, arpeggiated bass pushes the track along with unfussy percussion, haunting pads and strings floating in and out of the foreground. Praise for Deceiver “‘Deceiver’ is an unbridled pleasure” - Pitchfork  “A success as both an artistic statement and a mea culpa” - Q Magazine, ★★★★ “It sounds clearer, more focussed, and with a distinct, continuous sonic palette” - DIY, ★★★★ “‘Deceiver’ packs some seriously heavy riffs, sliding between monster rockers (the scything, fist-swinging ‘Blankenship’) and moon-eyed grunge ballads (opener ‘Horsehead’, for instance) that wouldn’t sound too out of place on an early Smashing Pumpkins record” - NME, ★★★★ “DIIV’s most full-bodied album to date” - Loud & Quiet, 8/10 Following the release of their highly anticipated third full-length album Deceiver, NYC's DIIV today announce their Australian return with a five-date national tour. Kicking off on Wednesday 22 April, the band will bring their enthralling new live show to fans in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth & Hobart. Full run of dates below. Rebirth takes place when everything falls apart. On Deceiver, DIIV crafts the soundtrack to personal resurrection under the heavyweight of metallic catharsis, upheld by robust guitars and vocal tension that almost snaps, but never quite… The new album from Zachary Cole Smith [lead vocals, guitar], Andrew Bailey [guitar], Colin Caulfield [vocals, bass], and Ben Newman [drums] was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Sonny Diperri (Protomartyr, Trent Reznor), marking the first time the band has worked with an outside producer. The album features the crystalized, darkly propulsive lead single 'Skin Game,' magnetically melancholic 'Taker' and searing, frenetic track 'Blankenship'. Deceiver is preceded by 2012’s Oshin and 2016’s critical and fan favourite Is the Is Are. NME ranked it in the Top 10 among the Albums of the Year and Pitchfork’s audience voted Is the Is Are one of the Top 50 Albums of 2016 as the outlet dubbed it, “gorgeous.” Don't miss your chance to see DIIV live in Australia this April. Tickets on sale now via Mistletone.

They don’t come much more energetic than Sydney’s WAWAWOW - their name alone is like a neon slap to the senses - and to kick off a brand new year, the four-piece present a brand new collection of music in the cracking debut album, PINK ELEPHANT, out Friday, February 14th. Warping and threading psych, funk and hectic electro-indie influences throughout, the record is the perfect snapshot of the band’s attitude toward creating music. Leading the charge, WAWAWOW’s new single ‘The Big Cookoff’ is delightfully bonkers - just how they like it. Equal parts mental and ridiculously precise in delivery, ‘The Big Cookoff’ is textbook WAWAWOW. Evolving from jam sessions into produced recordings full of raw energy, the single is representative of a band who are firmly in the pocket, firmly tongue in cheek and firmly with their eye on a central vision on making music delivered in one-two punch style. “We always take it as a more-is-more approach with the music. As long as it’s paced nicely, we like to see how ridiculous it can get.” WAWAWOW Applying the same attitude to their visuals, the music video for ‘The Big Cookoff’ brings animation courtesy of Shaun Allen together with band and location footage in Sydney, sizing up brilliantly with the batshit nature of the song itself. “This track is our love/hate letter to Sydney in a lot of ways, so we wanted to get in as much of the city as possible. Given our natural aversion to being filmed walking around the streets, and the fact that we had just lost a band member, Shaun felt it was more fitting to try some stop motion.” WAWAWOW PRAISE FOR WAWAWOW “WAWAWOW just keep growing new teeth. This set doesn’t even pause for breath and is relentless, urgent, and nutty bananas from start to finish. This is one hell of a show, like being pounded and stomped, and loving every second.” The Underground Stage “Combine the righteous, face melting voltage of POND with the batshit zaniness of Tom Cruise appearing on Oprah and you’ll get an inkling for just how weird this four-piece can get.” Happy Magazine “A shattered self-deprecating tone marching through odd time signatures taking cues from somewhere between the B-52s and Royal Blood.” AMNplify With their new music ready and raring to go, fans will be able to catch WAWAWOW performing through NSW this month and in February. Time to join this crazy circus, WAWAWOW have got one helluva new show to deliver. “There’s something about the trance we put ourselves in, as we play without stopping, that has a slight tunnel vision effect. There’s no pauses to have a sip or fix up a pedal, so you kind of learn to exist on that plane.” WAWAWOW          WAWAWOW TOUR DATES Friday, February 7th The Loft @ UTS Sydney The Band’s Next Door 2SER with Stressless Saturday, February 15th Dicey Riley’s Hotel Wollongong Album Launch Saturday, February 22nd Town Hall Hotel Newtown Album Launch with Pyjama Sundayz, Cakewalk ‘The Big Cookoff’ is released Friday, January 17th.  Pink Elephant is released Friday, February 14th. "Dreamstate lives up to its namesake, with gentle, luscious production, underpinning the trio's ever- soothing vocal work” - Pilerats "Chorus sealed the deal with me. Amazing" - Bridget Hustwaite, Triple J After 12 months in the studio Stonefox make a bold return in 2020 signed to Canadian electronic record label Seeking Blue (MrSuicideSheep) with a lush and melancholic new track 'Lightning'.  Staying true to their musical roots, 'Lightning' is a continuation of Stonefox's moody and emotionally honest work and the first taste from their forthcoming EP with Sydney-based producer Jean-Paul Fung (Last Dinosaurs, Client Liaison). The project marks a huge progression for the three-piece Melbourne band (Jenna Russo, Tim Carroll and Monica Spasaro) and explores the intricacies of poisonous relationships. ‘Lightning’ itself is illustrative of confrontation and betrayal as lead singer Jenna Russo explains: “This is the first time we have really evoked feelings of anger and betrayal through a song. It’s very hostile - born out of a feeling of toxic jealousy. It is a powerful, demanding song, insistent on knowing how the person you once loved could lay next to someone else.” Reminiscent of The XX and Daughter, Stonefox have shaped their own definitive indie electro-pop sound consisting of reverb-drenched vocals, clean guitars and heartfelt lyrics. The trio have accumulated over 50 million streams across Spotify alone and have supported the likes of Timberwolf, Mosquito Coast and City Calm Down. Their unique brand of ‘left-of-centre pop’ has also earned airplay on triple j (Good Nights, Home and Hosed and Unearthed) and FBi Radio, alongside praise from Pilerats, Forbes and Pedestrian.TV.  'Lightning' is only the start for Stonefox – with more in store this year the trio is sharing their most evocative sound yet. Soothsayer are delighted to reveal Willaris. K (Jack McAllister)’s latest single ‘INDIFFERENT’, the Australian electronic and ambient producer’s first-ever track to incorporate vocals, featuring Australian singer, songwriter and producer, Gordi (Sophie Payten). Premiered overnight via triple j Good Nights, ‘INDIFFERENT (WITH GORDI)’ is a harrowing and dramatic track that marks a transformative sonic turn for Willaris, showcasing his intrinsic ability to harness emotion through complex musical composition. Grounded in piano movements and melodic basslines, Willaris has built a textured and emotive soundscape that perfectly complements the haunting vocals the Bon Iver and Troye Sivan collaborator is famous for. The track was originally conceived at Willaris' home in NSW, then fine-tuned on Sophie’s farm in rural Australia, and finally perfected alongside renowned Sigur Ros collaborator and film composer Alex Somers at Shangri La Studios in Malibu, inside Bob Dylan’s iconic old tour bus.    "I wrote the instrumental as an experiment to see where I could take my music sonically. I wanted to explore it for film but also explore the more vulnerable side of Willaris. K. I melted when Sophie started singing the first line when we were recording." – Willaris. K   Gordi’s ability to make intensely emotional music is something the singer, songwriter and producer has mastered. With an impressive list of collaborations to her name, including Troye Sivan, Bon Iver, Julien Baker and The Tallest Man On Earth, her debut album, Reservoir (out through Jagjaguwar) was nominated for triple j's 'Album of the Year' in 2017.    “Jack and I talked about collaborating when we were lying on the floor of the living room in my apartment listening to music at 5am. The next day he sent me this song titled ‘Piano Man’. It had the beautiful piano part you hear in the song and it made me so sad. So I wrote a sad story to go with it about feeling nothing and called it ‘Indifferent’.”  - Gordi ‘INDIFFERENT’ follows Willaris’ last release, the A and B-side record ‘5 O’CLOCK’ - which was recently selected as the feature track for the UEFA Champions League recap commercial, airing across BT Sports TV channels internationally as well as online and mobile platforms, and its ambient counterpart ‘PAST LIGHT’, which is a testament to Willaris’ textural sound and early days collecting field recordings in Australia. Earlier this month, Willaris released a collection of atmospheric remixes of ‘5 O’CLOCK’ from rising electronica artists TSHA, Ghost Culture and Juno Mamba – listen here. The 2019/20 Australian Summer has already seen Willaris.
