KOTA THE FRIEND RESCHEDULES AU & NZ LEG OF FOTO TOUR TO MAY 2020 + SPECIAL GUESTS FOR ALL SHOWS TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON

LISTEN HERE After continuing to impress and evolve his sound throughout 2019, MOGUAI continues that trend with his first release of 2020, joining forces with long-time friend Kai Tracid for the acid-influenced techno banger ‘DT64’. MOGUAI has been prolific on the release front recently, with standout tracks dropping on the likes of Big Beat and the huge Oliver Heldens collab ‘Cucumba’, and now he returns to Heldeep Records with ‘DT64’ alongside fellow German Kai Tracid, best known for pioneering the combination of trance and acid sounds, who himself returns from a short break from releases in style. A heavy kick-drum sets the dark tone from the offset, soon joined by a distorted, squelching acid line that evolves throughout and provides the backbone of the track. An arpeggiated piano melody switches the up track in the breakdown, creating a hands-in-the-air moment before increasing in intensity before the drop, where the pounding acid lead resumes normal service. Make no mistake, this is a track firmly rooted for the dancefloor. On the origins of the track, MOGUAI said; “Kai Tracid and I have known each other for ages, I supported his early stuff heavily when I was into techno and acid back in the day. There was a party we played together in Poland. We were on the same plane and we spoke about the old days and new genres, and I thought it would be a cool idea to do something old school in a new school way. It was a very inspiring and creative talk and so we decided to do something. He sent me an acid line and I built something around it. When I worked on the track I thought of going to my first rave, it was Mayday in Berlin. I remembered the story from Mayday, the idea behind it was to help keep a radio station alive in Berlin which was called DT64, they wanted to shut them down so they ran this party I thought it was a homage to my starting point and so felt the name was a good fit. I’m from Germany and Mayday is the mother of all raves but no-one talks about the original story of Mayday nowadays, so it’s nice to pay tribute.” On working with MOGUAI, Kai Tracid said; “After André and I had a great chat about club music I felt super inspired to start a new track. Back in the studio I took my old vintage Roland TB-303, which I bought 25 years ago, and made a few ACID lines. André liked it and we joined forces and started the collaboration. For me, it was clear that the track should represent the sound of what I like to bring to my DJ sets. A classic 303 mixed with a melodic techno break. MELBOURNE ART BOOK FAIR Returning for its sixth year from 13-15 March, with publishers, artists, designers and writers from around the globe converging on the NGV for a huge program. Pirate Radio will broadcast live from the NGV’s St Kilda Road Forecourt; Sticky Institute returns with the Australian Zine Showcase; NGV International hosts the debut of a children’s publishing workshop space run by Kids Own Publishing; and the Strelka Institute for Media, Architecture and Design, Moscow will present The New Normal: Design in the Age of Global Computation, a half-day symposium with international speakers including speculative architect and film director Liam Young and a debut Australian lecture by Amsterdam-based design/art collective Metahaven. As part of the Melbourne Art Book Fair, the NGV will announce the winner of The Cornish Family Prize for Art and Design Publishing. An initiative of the NGV recognising outstanding publishing practice that explores art, design, architecture and contemporary culture, the prize will award $15,000 AUD to an overall winner with up to five finalists each receiving $1,000 AUD. After the reception that the debut ‘DJ Bone & Friends’ received in 2019, Bone is now bringing his new concept to the fore in 2020. The first DJ Bone and Friends of 2020 takes place at RADION Amsterdam on the 20th March where Bone takes to the decks with the godfather of the French Acid House scene Laurent Garnier. With Amsterdam Bone’s longstanding European base for the last 3 1/2 years and having close relationship with the city and its clubbers RADION served as the ideal venue where he is given complete licence to explore the full force of his creativity. First meeting 25 years ago Bone and Garnier formed a long lasting friendship. Bone opened for Garnier in Detroit on a system which left a lot to be desired, both artists used innovative tricks to make it work, impressed by each others techniques a close bond was formed. Garnier told Bone that he should pursue a full time career as a DJ - much to Bones bemusement - and promising to bring him to Europe. Fast forward 3 months and Bone arrived in Paris to play his first international set at Rex club. Its this connection, formed on the dancefloor which captures the spirit of the DJ Bone & Friends, that carries through in the magical electric atmosphere which makes these parties unique. For many Bone and Garnier acted as introductory points to the real underground electronic music scene and its testament to their credibility and that they remain so to this day. It is this sense of community and togetherness that captures the vibe and energy that make up the core principles that DJ Bone & Friends was founded on. And so Laurent Garnier was the perfect first guest to kick off the 2020 series of parties. With such a deep grounding in the scene and a wealth of records to draw from, Bone and Garnier will be digging deep into their archives for a rich array of music to soundtrack the 8 Hour session with the two of them rolling from opening to close. DJ Bone and Friends announces first 2020 show w/ Laurent Garnier at RADION Amsterdam

Techno don Reinier Zonneveld looks set for a massive hit with his latest track, which reworks the stunning melody made famous by PPK’s 1998 smash ‘Resurrection’. Zonneveld made his remix of the trance classic to play in his live sets, and it proved to be so popular that he felt it simply had to be released. He and his team set about trying to find the rightsholder of the original melody so that they could license it. This journey led them not to PPK, but to the original composer: the now 82 year old Russian electronic music pioneer, Edward Artemiev. He wrote the melody for the soundtrack of a 1979 movie called ‘Siberiade’. Zonneveld wrote him a letter asking if he could grant him permission to release his take on the melody. Listening to Reinier’s new interpretation of ‘Resurrection’, Artemiev was immediately sold and approved it to release. One of the earliest composers to adopt the synthesiser, Artemiev has a pioneering legacy that lives on through this new version that has been so skilfully crafted by Zonneveld. Moving on to the track itself. Pummeling old skool hardcore techno kicks thump under filtered layers of bubbling synths as an ominous tone is set early on. The melodic elements tease in tense fashion as layers of hissing percussion build on top. Flashes of the distinctive riff are sparingly deployed. Then suddenly the swell comes, rising pads and dramatic synth riffs fuelling the fire as cymbal rides urge us forward. Snare rolls and acidic textures build the tension further before the rug is pulled from under us and we’re thrust into the dream-like sounds of that famous riff. Sounding as enchanting and otherworldly as ever, these cute interweaving melodic lines soon transport you to another dimension. Instead, the minimal approach is chosen, stripping the track down to its bare melodic basics and letting the famous hook shine. Further glorious melodic subtleties lift the track again and snare rolls push higher, but the track never reaches for excess and continues to tease throughout. Marco Carola, Jamie Jones, Luciano, Sven Väth, Guy Gerber, Lee Burridge, Ricardo Villalobos, Adriatique will be amongst more than 53 of the most prominent artists of the moment, who will gather in Crans-Montana. Three new stages have been announced, one new daytime stage at Cry D’Er plus two new night stages that will host various national and international festival and club brands. Modernity 2 X Higher Located 2,200 meters on the Cry D’Er terrace with a breath-taking panoramic view in the heart of the Swiss Alps, the Modernity stage continues to attract more customers from around the world wishing to live this unique clubbing experience. For its 17th edition, the event's organizing committee wanted to extend the festival over two weekends from April 17 to 19 and from April 24 to 26 in order to offer not 3 but 6 Modernity events. A second daytime stage, located in the Club Cry D’Er on the Modernity site, will be offered to the public in order to offer them a choice of programming. The most influential artists on the scene responded to the call for the new concept. The first weekend of the festival will notably welcome artists such as Sven Väth, Adriatique, Guy Gerber, Lee Burridge, Behrouz, Chaim, Yokoo, Lunar Disco, Parallells (Live), Guti (Live), Traumer, Archie Hamilton, Ion Ludwig, Britta Arnold, Mira & Chris Schwarzwalder and more. On the second weekend, the mountains will vibrate with the sounds of Marco Carola, Jamie Jones, Luciano, Ricardo Villalobos, Sonja Moonear, Marco Faraone, Osunlade, Mathew Jonson, Magda, Agents of time, Michel Cleis, Alex Kostic, Skizzo, Steve Rachmad, Cesar Merveille, Shaun Reeves, Ryan Crosson and many more. New Night Stages Caprices's Moon stage from previous years will give way to two new stages — the Forest Stage and the Chalet Stage — which have been imagined and programmed in collaboration with renowned national and international festival and club partners. On the international side, you will find party labels such as: Esto Es Tulum from Mexico, Epizode from Vietnam, Pyramid from Ibiza, Gypsyland from Italy, Aum from Paris, Slapfunk Records from Nethereland and many others. On the national side, the leading players on the Swiss scene will be associated such as the D! Club and Folklor of Lausanne, Secret Society of Geneva, Terrazza of Zurich.
