Music SA’s Scouted returns in 2021 after a COVID-fuelled hiatus – showcasing the wonderful unsigned and emerging musical talent we have here in South Australia to significant music industry representatives and enthusiastic music lovers on Friday 8 October at Lion Arts Factory.

As part of the 2021 Umbrella Festival curated program (now extended to October 17 2021 in response to the most recent South Australian lockdown), the Scouted mini-festival includes performances from five-piece indie-pop outfit Bermuda Bay, happy/sad surf-pop trio Don’t Bring Stacey, Adelaide’s electrifying neo-psych outfit The Empty Threats, First Nations hip hop duo LBG, indie-pop sweethearts Mum Friends, and femme indie-rock group Oscar The Wild.

Throughout the evening, these six emerging artists will perform live sets in front of a ticketed live audience of both live music fans and representatives from the South Australian music industry. In lieu of music industry delegates are normally in Adelaide for the AIR Awards and Indie-Con Conference, a live song from each set will be filmed and edited by a team of videographers for distribution to the national industry, to ultimately open up exciting possibilities for the Scouted participants.

Additionally, the Scouted artists will be provided with intimate one-on-one mentoring sessions with industry professionals that include Adam Montgomery (Fourtone), Rhiannon Cook (Positive Feedback), Rachel Jones-Williams (Dirty Hit) and Claire Mooney (triple j Unearthed).

Joining the entertainment at Scouted will be leading promoter Live Nation, launching the first ONES TO WATCH showcase in Australia. In addition to the Scouted performances on Friday 8th October, homegrown artists ColourblindEAST AV3 and TEENAGE JOANS will perform pre-event to an audience of invite-only music industry attendees, which will be recorded live and then featured on ONES TO WATCH in the coming months.

ONES TO WATCH is Live Nation’s global artist discovery platform dedicated to introducing new artists to music fans globally and is set to be the number one destination for music fans to discover their new favourite artists in Australia. The platform which already exists in the US, UK, New Zealand and China, has played a part in amplifying the careers of some major household names, such as HalseyDua LipaLANY, and Yungblud.

Through the ONES TO WATCH platform, music lovers will be given exclusive access to follow the unfolding careers of Australia’s next wave of up-and-coming local artists, bands, musicians and producers through the online platform. In addition, artists will have the opportunity to perform live ONES TO WATCH showcase events aimed at getting the artists in front of key industry professionals and performing to a live audience.

Music SA General Manager Kim Roberts is thrilled that Scouted is returning in 2021 for its fourth year to give local artists an opportunity to promote their music to some of the biggest names in the music industry.
