Where are you currently based and what is the music scene like there? For the moment I am living in Pavia, which is the city where I was born and is about half an hour from Milan. In Pavia the house techno scene is not famous at all but I am lucky to be very close to Milan which is a great metropolis and it’s full of clubs. A few months ago I performed in Milan at Magazzini Generali with Luciano and at the Armani Privè Club. It is very good to be near Milan also to travel for my gigs because the city has 3 airports and is very connected. Your productions are distinguished for their powerful, percussive and playful sound, with deep energetic bass lines and vocal sampling, who or what influences your sound and songwriting? Yes I love playing with vocal and percussions! I don't have a real inspiration, I like listening to lots of music and learning new things. I like to experiment. What programs/equipment do you use? In the studio I currently have an Elektron Analog Rytm drum machine, a Moog Sub 37 synthesizer (in love with it), a mute keyboard that receives the signal from the vst (for example nexsus, sylenth1 etc), 2 Focal Trio 6be monitors and a Motu Express as audio soundcard. Now I'm planning to buy a mixer and the vintage synthesizer Roland Juno 106. In 2017 you found success in the Beatport charts with Music On resident Leon, their record “Cant You See” reached #2 of the tech house chart and #3 on the global Beatport Chart, becoming the most played track during BPM Festival 2017. This caught the attention of Nic Fanciulli and Saved Records who signed Simone’s next EP “Halo” which also cracked the global Beatport top 10.   What do you think it is about your music that appeals to so many people? I'm really happy with the result I got with these 2 ep. Both have reached high positions in the world rankings and they have been played by many djs! It was great to receive videos of Carl Cox, Nic Fanciulli, Joris Voorn and many others who played my tracks at the Bpm Festival. It’s a huge satisfaction to see that the songs you have worked alone in the studio have reached that world stages. How has the experience been working with Nic Fanciulli and Saved Records ? Nic and Saved Records have always been a point of reference for me since I took my first steps in this world. Saved has always been one of my favorite record labels and having the opportunity to work with them has been fantastic for me. I even for a while been on the charts in the label and Nic Fanciulli posted the Ep on his social media saying that Halo was one of his favorite records of that year! Nic and I are still in touch and soon there will be more news. How do you usually go about writing music? There are days where I go into the studio already with an idea on my mind but most of the time I come in without ideas, I sit down and start to record what's on my mind until I find what convinces me. Who are you listening to at the moment? Right now I'm listening a lot Crosstown Rebels , the label of Damian Lazarus, especially the tracks of Sis, one of my favorite producers!  You were born and raised in Pavia, near Milan, how did this location shape your musical taste and career? Pavia for me was the starting point. The first time I played in my life it was here in my city for a party organized by a friend of mine. I was 17, there were 300 people and I was very excited. I prepared the whole DJ set with great care and at the end of the party the people made me many compliments and urged me to continue on this path. From that moment I began to take my DJ career seriously. In Pavia, however, as I said before, the house & techno scene has not developed, so being near Milan has helped me a lot to gain experience in this world. In Milan there are many parties and many clubs. In 2018 you performed 80+ gigs in 30 countries!  What do you find most rewarding and challenging when touring? That's what I've always aspired to! For me it is a huge joy and satisfaction to be able to travel the world and bring my music to the people. It's a wonderful feeling for me to see people dancing and having fun when I play. I really like to connect with the public and thank them for the support they give me, they are the ones who give me the energy! What do you do to relax and in your spare time when on tour? When I'm on tour and I have some free time I always try to use it to visit the cities and try their typical foods! I have always enjoyed traveling and I am lucky that my work allows me to see so many places and learn about many new cultures and people. This opened my mind a lot and made me grow on many aspects. In 2018 you had success with an EP on Elrow Music. Your new release is out now on Chicago label ‘incorrect music’ - listen here , how did you come to release with 'incorrect music' ? Now I am a great friend of Anthony Attalla (the label owner) . He believed in me right away and I've been working with his label and his Incorrect party in the United States for a few years. A few months ago we did a crazy showcase on the Groove Cruise from San Diego to Cabo in Mexico. I released on his label for the first time a few years ago with a remix that does very well on the charts and this is the first time I release an EP on the label. What influenced this release? Nothing in particular, as always I entered the studio and started recording. Where and when did you produce? If I'm not on tour I produce in Pavia in my studio that I created. I rented a spacious box and soundproofed it completely.  What do you have planned for 2019? There are many things in the program! A tour in Central America, a tour in Asia and Australia, loads of gigs in Europe. There will also be a fairly important news that I will reveal soon on my socials and that it will change some things. Any secrets that you care to share? I have some music ready to go out including a good project with a really good singer: Mikey V. Favourite food and place to hangout? I like a lot of things, I love to eat and I'm lucky to be Italian from this point of view because the Italian cuisine is one of the best in the world. I really like the risotto alla pescatora, the cannelloni and the real mozzarella di bufala. One of the places to hang out for me is Miami, I love warm places with a tropical weather.

DENZEL CURRY REVEALS NEW ‘BLACK BALLOONS’ VIDEO

“the power of his performance, the veracity of his pen, and the color of his wordplay make him an expert at voicing the tribulations of this doomed condition we call being young”
– Pitchfork

“he already feels like a seasoned veteran of the rap game”  – XXL

“A fireball of aggressive political and social lyricism” – Music Feeds

Today, Denzel Curry is sharing a new video from his critically-acclaimed album TA13OO.The visual for BLACK BALLOONS | 13LACK 13ALLOONZ, featuring Twelve’len andGoldlink, is taken from the first of the album’s three acts and arrives as the prequel to the previously-released visuals for ‘Clout Cobain’ and ‘Vengeance’, completing the sinister story of being an industry pawn.

The visual, directed Zev Deans, opens with Curry being promised millions and international fame, but the facade quickly unravels as he discovers he’s just a ploy in the seedy, drug-fueled circus that represents the underbelly of the music industry.

Denzel is also announcing a new pack of remixes by The Love Below. Black Balloons, The Love Below Remix Pack features remixes of some of TA13OO’s standout tracks by Love Below members Telescope Thieves, Cancrejo, Manuvers, JerriousB, Pazmal andLouby. The Love Below is a Miami-based collective that hosts a weekly party (established July 2015) that consistently pushes a new wave of sounds. See remix cover art and tracklist below…

The remix pack and video follows Denzel Curry’s recent headline run for Laneway Festival – including sold out headlines in Sydney (Maxx Watt’s) and Melbourne (170 Russell) – and on the heels of his critically acclaimed, three-part album TA13OO  [Taboo].

7. BLACK BALLOONS | 13LACK 13ALLOONZ

Released March 29 via Loma Vista / Caroline Australia

Whilst in the country for Laneway, Denzel took to triple j’s Like A Version studio for a seismic rendition of Rage Against The Machine’s ‘Bulls On Parade’ (1996) and a special live version of BLACK BALLOONS | 13LACK 13ALLOONS featuring Australia’s own Sampa The Great and Harts (WATCH HERE).

‘Bulls On Parade’ was quick to break borders, with an unprecedented amount of shares and international coverage from the likes of XXL, The FADER, Stereogum, NME, Kerrang,  CLASH and Consequence of Sound; alongside a host of Australian praise and posts.

Our first glimpse into the project came via new single "SOS," a slow-burning R'n'B cut that has already clocked in over 100K streams on Spotify alone since its release a month ago. In anticipation of the full project, McClenney is now revealing a second window into the EP with new single "Love In The Sky." Featuring collaborators April + Vista, a duo that hails from the DMV (DC, MD, VA) like McClenney, "Love In The Sky" is a lush production packed with emotive lyrics and a truly retro R'n'B essence. Featuring vocals from both McClenney and April George, "Love In The Sky" features a downtempo melody constructed of drum kit, analog synth, bass guitar, and layered vocals. Representing the first ever feature on one of McClenney's tracks, "Love In The Sky" is a hypnotizing four-minute single that is both contemporary and classic in construction and sound. Much of the influence of "Love In The Sky," and the remainder of "I'm Not Here," stems from legendary act Earth, Wind, & Fire. Written and recorded at Earth, Wind, & Fire's little known private studio from the 70s & 80s in LA, a place where modern artists such as Frank Ocean, Rhye, Boogie and legendary artists Prince, Quincy Jones, Fleetwood Mac, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg, have also recorded, 'I'm Not Here' finds a special home preserving the legacy of the group while solidifying a new one for McClenney. With the exception of "SOS," 'I'm Not Here' was written, produced, and performed solely by McClenney. Incorporating clever combinations of pop and R&B instrumentation with undeniable vocal charm, Melbourne duo FRANCO return with confidence, dropping new single ‘MONEY OVER MATTER’ on us as the countdown to their highly anticipated debut self-titled EP officially gets started. The musical project from vocalist Natalie Slade and acclaimed producer and percussionist Plutonic Lab first introduced their slick sounds with single ‘It’s All On You’, which was quick to turn heads, demonstrating songwriting talent, a delivery marked by edge and attitude. A strong foundation that the FRANCO EP has continued to build off. Both bring their own solid talents to the fold, with Slade’s reputation in the Melbourne scene quickly establishing her as a bright light on the scene; collaborating with the likes of Simon Mavin (Hiatus Kaiyote) and Katalyst as well performing alongside the likes of Common, Talib Kweli and Tall Black Guy. Of course, Plutonic Lab’s reverence and standing as one of Australia’s best producers has long spoken for itself. An ARIA-nominated, Mercury Award winning artist with a diverse and extensive catalogue of credits to his name, Plutonic Lab has been behind records for artists including the Hilltop Hoods (most recently producing their current Platinum certified single ‘Leave Me Lonely’), Black Milk, Guilty Simpson and Speech Debele. A partnership like this makes sense on paper, yes, but hearing Slade’s intrinsically soulful vocals blend as they do against Plutonic Lab’s production and beats makes their union on record undeniable. LISTEN HERE DOWNLOAD MEDIA ASSETS DOWNLOAD SINGLE Recorded in Plutonic Lab’s Shark Repellent Studios, ‘Money Over Matter’ is a coupling of feisty lyricism with head-nodding production, stemming from sessions in Melbourne between Slade and Plutonic Lab that not only strengthened their group dynamic, but offered up space for them to explore their own musical influences further. “I’ve been a fan of Natalie Slade since the moment I heard her and I knew I had to record with her. The FRANCO EP is a sonic diary of us getting to know each other’s music, tastes and style, and figuring out what we can do together. I’m fascinated with how we interpret each other’s ideas, and things get transformed pretty quickly when we get creative.” Plutonic Lab Deftly manoeuvring from the boisterous vibes of ‘Money Over Matter’ through to neo-soul licked sounds (‘How To Get In Your Love’) and charming pop orchestration (‘The Bells’), FRANCO ensure their mark of authenticity is made on this debut EP. PRAISE FOR FRANCO

“FRANCO is the teaming up of revered Aussie producer Plutonic Lab and vocalist Natalie Slade to form a killer two-person combo that delves into funk-laden jams, erring on the side of old school hip-hop with a bit of jazz thrown in, all underpinned with some serious groove.”
Pilerats

“I don’t like to play favourites, but Natalie Slade might well be the best vocalist in the country. There’s something about her vocal that just draws you in immediately; I’m not sure I’ve heard her turn in a performance anything short of perfect.”
Double J, Dan Condon

“I’ve admired you both from afar so it’s now or never. I love you FRANCO.”
Double J, Dot Markek

“Weeesh, this is like staying at a hotel and you just end up living in that nice bathrobe they give you. So soft and inviting and just fits you so well too.”
Triple J Unearthed, Dave Ruby Howe

“The new collaboration between Plutonic Lab and Natalie Slade just might be the sound of 2019. The project is called FRANCO and with accomplished drummer and producer Pluto on the beats and NZ bred, Aus fed Slade on the vocals, this is a match made in soulful heaven.”
Triple J, Hau Latukefu

The FRANCO EP, due out March 29th, is an exploration of sonic tone; from rich soulful depths, to a vibrant palette of hip-hop and funk-laden beats, the debut offering from FRANCO is a polished entry. Here is your chance to become acquainted!

Kian has unveiled the lyric video for ‘Childism’, the follow up to his debut single ‘Waiting’. At just 16 years of age, the song itself is deeply personal for Kian, and this is reflected in the video – as he explains, “The idea of Childism is based around feeling as if you don’t have a voice in society, like you’re stuck in the middle of being a kid and an adult, that your thoughts and opinions often get lost in the clutter because of your age. It’s the constant pressure of expectation, stereotypes, fitting in, mental health and bullying, all issues that affect young people of today … I hope kids can listen to this song and know they are not alone … the louder we speak up the more we will be heard!” Recently added to the bill for the UK’s Great Escape Festival 2019, Kian will join Conan Gray on tour, playing a London show on May 8 before heading to Europe for shows in Amsterdam, Paris, Cologne and Berlin. Acclaimed Sydney songwriter ELKI is back for 2019 announcing today her new single 'Nightmare', as well as sharing the news she will be releasing her debut EP Extended Play in May. 'Nightmare' is another standout from the eclectic artist, combining her quirky songwriting with intoxicating production, the single is anything but. Rich and full, it features layer upon layer of vocal parts to produce a brand of pop that snaps your attention straight into focus. Recorded with John Castle (Dean Lewis, Vance Joy, Hatchie), 'Nightmare' is a playful song of underwater romantic disaster that came to Elki one night in her sleep.   ELKI saying, “I wrote a large chunk of ‘Nightmare’ in my sleep and woke up with the opening verse fully formed.” She explains further that writing comes out of daydreaming and switching off the phone, getting into a subconscious state and tuning out. "I think that’s where ‘Nightmare’ came from – my brain looking for a way to express all those pent up ideas. If I haven’t been tweaking a melody, scribbling a lyric, or re-recording a demo, I feel like it’s a day wasted. That’s why I’m a firm believer in turning the technology off and doing your own thing.” Listen to 'Nightmare': https://AWAL.lnk.to/Nightmare

Astral People and Handsome Tours are excited to announce Injury Reservefor their first ever Australia and New Zealand tour this June 2019 The rap trio from Phoenix have started the year off with a bang, dropping track 'Jawbreaker' in January and now they’re back with new single 'Jailbreak The Tesla feat. Amine' ahead of releasing their self-titled debut album later this year on Loma Vista Recordings. Injury Reserve, who recorded their debut mixtape in a dentist's office (and titled it 'Live from the Dentist Office'), have had an interesting journey from the USA suburbs to a coveted "A MINUS" from Robert Christgau, the "Dean of American rock critics," in his column for Noisey. From playing house shows to being played on Beats 1 Radio by Ebro. How did it all happen? What makes producer Parker Corey and rappers Stepa J. Groggs and Ritchie With a T special? For Complex, it's their boundary-pushing, "DIY weirdness." For Billboard, their fashion sense and fearless honesty. Pigeons and Planes admires their group dynamic, calling them "one of the best new groups in hip-hop," while Mass Appeal nods to their cinematic vision. Anthony Fantano's interest in their ability to balance tradition with innovation is well-documented on the Needle Drop, where he published 8/10 reviews of 'Live from the Dentist Office' and last year's 'Floss'. The latter, a major breakthrough for the group with features from Cakes da Killa and Vic Mensa, is energetic, refined, and in Christgau's words, "the most unpretentious hip-hop you ever heard." WA-based 18 year old rapper ARNO FARAJI is delighted to share his new feel good single ‘Scalin’, produced by Milan Ring. The track was premiered on triple j's 'Good Nights' and Sniffers and comes off the back of a run of national shows alongside Kwame and ahead of six Australian dates with Cosmo's Midnight this May. Listen to 'Scalin'' HERE. Arno Faraji shares, “The song is about following your passions and taking opportunities when they come! Life rarely called, especially in our favour, so when it does you have to answer, you never know if you’ll have the same opportunity!” Of his collaboration with Milan Ring, Faraji notes, “It was dope from the start, before we really got into anything we got to know each other a little bit and talked influences, traded sounds and got a feel for what we were both listening to at the time. I showed Milan this bassline from a track called FUNGUS and next thing I know, Milan is jamming and ends up creating her own dope bassline, almost in response to what I played.” 'Scalin' follows the release of ‘things change’ and Remi & Sensible J’s track ‘Bless (What It’s Like)’ in late 2018, wrapping up a huge 24 months since nabbing the triple j Unearthed High prize in 2017. Following his win, Faraji took to the stage supporting the likes of Rejjie Snow, Smino and Tkay Maidza, as well as hitting national touring festivals including Groovin The Moo and triple j’s 2018 One Night Stand in Tasmania to 20,000 people.  Making the shift from guitarist to beat-maker/rapper at an early age, Arno Faraji continues to carve his own path with his unique take on quick-witted and thoughtful raps across a future-leaning and diverse soundscape.  Stay tuned for more new music from Arno Faraji in 2019.

Perth producer Luude is continuing to blaze his own sonic trail, unveiling a daring new single in ‘Hurricane’, featuring Norwegian daze-pop act Great News. ‘Hurricane’ is released worldwide today, March 29th and is Luude’s first release with Sydney-based label Risqué. The Soundcloud breakout (real name Christian Benson) smashes the alien worlds of electro and psych rock together in his hypnotic new bop, channelling the kind of stacked 60’s-inspired vocals and woozy vintage synth tones you’ve come expect from acts like Tame Impala or The Flaming Lips, and twisting them with his trademark percussive EDM flair. Speaking about the creation of the experimental new track, Luude says he wanted to write something that “might hopefully stand the test of time”: “I've been listening to lots of bands like Battles, Tame Impala, Holy Fuck and The Flaming Lips and I really wanted to find a way to bring those influences into something that made sense for Luude, The guys from Great News brought the perfect vocal vibe to bring out the feeling I wanted in the track and it all came together really well. It had to be organic sounding, but still knock hard enough that I could play it in my shows". Luude will celebrate the arrival of ‘Hurricane’ with a handful of live dates across Australia this March, April and May, kicking off at Adelaide’s Electric Circus festival before hitting Perth, Canberra, Brisbane, Newcastle and Sydney before heading to the US for two months of touring. It comes after Luude kicked off the year with a performance at Sydney’s iconic Field Day festival, after selling out huge venues across Australia on his 2018 The Dark Room tour and playing an impressive collective of club dates across the globe. Luude has racked up a combined 20.9 million streams on Spotify, and garnered strong radio support from the likes of triple j, Beats 1, BBC Radio 1Xtra via Diplo & Friends and more.
