Emily Reo shares “Charlie,” from the upcoming The Le Sigh Vol. III compilation

EMILY REO SHARES “CHARLIE” FROM THE UPCOMING THE LE SIGH VOL. III COMPILATION OUT 8/4 ON FATHER/DAUGHTER RECORDS

LISTEN TO “CHARLIE“

Today, Emily Reo has shared a demo version of “Charlie,” a song from her upcoming album that is featured on the upcoming The Le Sigh Vol. III compilation.  The tape is available for pre-order now and due out 8/4 on Father/Daughter Records.

Of the song, Reo says: “Charlie is my kitten who died last summer. He was diagnosed suddenly with a rare terminal illness called FIP, and I wrote this song during his last week alive with him sitting on a chair next to me. I tried to express the universal feeling of loss, whether it be a friend, family member or pet, but I also tried to emphasize the ways in which our loved ones never leave us. After Charlie died, my partner Jack and I came up with a code to feel connected to him. If it was cloudy we decided he was feeling cozy and taking a nap, If it was clear or sunny we’d say he was awake and happy. Thunder = hungry, rain = drooling (of course). I started calling him my baby blue because that’s the sky when I imagine he is feeling his best. Jack and I co-produced this song, I did the mixing and it was mastered by Andrew Sardinha. My friend and bandmate Felix pointed out that the only thing I would write a love song about is a cat, so here I present to you — my ‘first love song’!”

Where are you currently based?

We’re living in Rome, Italy.

For those not already familiar with your sound, how would you describe your music genre?

It’s kind of deep-tech house…always something cool for the dancefloor!

How did you get into music?

We grew up in 80-90’s where lots of things were not available to everyone, unlike today thanks to the internet. The first way we got to know music was listening to the radio. From there curiosity and the desire to discover new things led us to the local music stores, thanks to which we learned about different kinds of music, including those closer to the club culture. We like different styles and different genres of music. From the beginning, we were influenced by so many artists and genres: the ’70 disco-music & Salsoul Records, Lerry Levan, Stevie Wonder, Queen, Royksopp, Bebel Gilberto, Groove Armada, Depeche Mode, Buddy Rich, Miles Davis, NIN, Richard David James , Einsturzende Neubauten, Kraftwerk, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Sonic Youth, Talking Heads, Brian Eno, David Bowie, The Cure, The Police, Pink Floyd, Michel Camilo, Dave Weckl, Pat Metheny, Incognito…and too many more to enumerate!

What are you working on right now, do you have any big release or gigs lined up?

We’ll have some new music coming out on D-FLOOR of course, and then we’ve three remix’s upcoming: For Sirus Hood on UNI, Terranova on Flashmob and one for SK Recordings.

You run a label called D-Floor, what do you look for when signing new music?

We’re trying to sign music which is “special”, not just loops and stuff without any hook.

D-Floor recently re-released a track by Malandra Jr. called “Dance Warriors”, why did you decide to re-release the track, and what makes this re-release different from the original one?

That track was released 1 year ago in the “This is blow” EP by Malandra on D-FLOOR, an EP showing all sides of Malandra’s talent. “Dance warriors” is a nudisco track, not really playable from tech house and housey djs, so we decided to make new remixes asking to Claudio Coccoluto and Riva Starr to bring the track in another mood.

Tell us a little about your writing process when it comes to making music your own music? We don’t have rules when we start a new track… Sometimes I catch a bassline, melodie or “rhythm sequence” with the iPhone’s voice recorder, then in the studio we work to translate in music what we had in mind. Often we play instruments in studio just for fun. Melody, bassline or drum patterns and if we get something cool we record it on cubase and start working on it. Sometimes a track can also start from a sample. Vocal sample, groove sample, instrument sample, anything that inspires us.

Outside of music what are your other interests, and do they influence your sound?

Most of our interests are in and around music… From vinyl collection to DIY hardware assembling and eurorack synth module. The only exceptions are football and skateboarding. These help clear our mind from stress, so we can be back in studio concentrated on music with plenty of adrenaline to fuel long work sessions.

You recently came to visit Australia to play some gigs, what do you think of the countries club scene?

We really like Australia and the club scene over there. We played both Revolver in Melbourne and SASH in Sydney in the last 2 tours and we fell they’re both in our personal TOP 10 CLUBS WORLDWIDE. 10.10. When are you playing next, and do you have any tours or festival appearances planned? Our summer will be very busy, we’re playing mostly in Italy and

JOHN NEWMAN AND GTA ADDED TO UNTOLD 2017 LINE-UP

UNTOLD

British phenom John Newman returns to the main stage of UNTOLD Festival in 2017. After performing the UNTOLD ARENA in 2015 during the inaugural edition of the festival, John Newman is excited to be part of the UNTOLD lineup once again. Through his collaborations with Calvin Harris and Rudimental, John Newman’s music shot to the top of the charts in no time and with hit tracks like “Love Me Again” “Blame,” “Give Me Your Love,” there’s no doubt he will light up the Dragon’s Nest.

Good times are definitely ahead with the kick-off of UNTOLD 2017 just two weeks away and the latest addition to the main stage GTA couldn’t agree more. The band GTA, or Good Times Ahead consists of Julio Mejia and Matt Toth, both avid DJs and producers who have toured with the likes of Rihanna, Calvin Harris and Tiësto.

John Newman and G.T.A, join over 200 artists on the line-up, including: Afrojack, Armin van Buuren, Axwell & Ingrosso, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Hardwell, Martin Garrix, Steve Aoki, Marshmello , Alan Walker, Don Diablo, Lost Frequencies, Ellie Goulding, Hurts, Jasmine Thompson, MØ, Tinie Tempah and many others.

The current schedule can be found on the festival website, www.untold.comand in the official UNTOLD app, available in the App Store and Google Play Store. The schedule may undergo changes in the following days.

There are only 3,000 GA tickets at EUR 130 and VIP tickets available for the third edition of UNTOLD Festival. There is also a limited number of day-tickets available, priced at EUR 60.

UNTOLD ACCOMMODATION

There are only two weeks left until the most anticipated music festival of the year kicks off, and for the people who have not yet found a place to stay, it is important to note that there are still places available in student hostels throughout Cluj-Napoca and on the UNTOLD campsite, just minutes away from the festival area.

More information about the facilities of each accommodation option can be found at www.untold.com/accommodation.

TRANSYLVANIA ALL INCLUSIVE

After last year’s successful first edition, UNTOLD continues to put their home on the map with the Transylvania All Inclusive campaign. Launched in 2016, Transylvania All Inclusive’s original objective was to turn the realm of Dracula into the world’s largest resort. UNTOLD is a music festival in essence but even more so an avid ambassador of Romania.

In partnership with the National Tourism Authority, the UNTOLD bracelet will grant discounts and other promotions for major tourist attractions in Transylvania, running from the 5th of August until the 10th of September. In 2016, thousands of foreign tourists visited the area’s many tourist attractions including the likes of Zion’s Synagogue in Oradea, Darvas House – La Roche Oradea, Oradea Town Hall and Tower, Oradea Fortress, Baroque Oradea Complex, Alba Iulia Union National Museum, Salina Turda, ASTRA Sibiu National Museum Complex, Braşov Weaving Bastion, Bran Castle, Dracula’s Castle and Peleş National Museum.

World renowned travel publication Lonely Planet picked Transylvania as their top destination worth visiting for 2016, citing the areas untouched natural beauty as one of the main reasons.

Victoria Williams – ‘Victoria Williams & The Loose Band – Town Hall 1995’ Out Today

VICTORIA WILLIAMS ‘Victoria Williams & The Loose Band – Town Hall 1995’ Out Today

Victoria Williams & The Loose Band – Crazy Mary:

Featuring Lou Reed on ‘Sweet Jane’

“I love Victoria Williams.” Lou Reed

“The instrumentation is beautiful, and much more sparse than her studio albums.” No Depression

“In her leisurely way, Ms. Williams carried listeners into her own world. It’s a musical attic where she dusts off curios — standards, hymns, country songs, backwoods blues, bits of rock — and displays them or reassembles them to suit her own quirks.” New York Times

We feel protective. In the spirit of caring, we come to celebrate Victoria Williams. There are certain acts that you just have to nurture and believe in. Early in her career, Victoria Williams released two astonishing albums that no-one listened to, they sat on the shelves and a small battalion of converts attempted to persuade the masses that this work was exemplary. They traded tapes, bought spare copies, foisted them on friends. Longed to be on Victoria’s back porch.

She was quirky. She was Marmite. She sang nursery rhymes, things that sounded like hymns. She touched the inner child, possessed of a sweet innocence, a poetic simplicity that seemed all too easily to be crushed beneath the wheels of progress. She did social commentary too, like the local paper, every bit Peter Bogdanovich’s Last Picture Show brought to life. Her voice was brittle but it had range. Listening to those albums, you were on edge, willing her to get through each song.

Then in 1994 Van Dyke Parks’ arranged ‘Loose’, a beautiful accomplished new collection of songs that was an overnight success a mere seven years on. A year previous the great and the greater had assembled to interpret her music on ‘Sweet Relief’ in aid of her struggle with MS. The word was out. Pearl Jam, Evan Dando, Giant Sand, Lou Reed and The Jayhawks all put in a shift. People were enthralled by this voice from a place guarded by the mythical Tarbelly And Featherfoot.

And so, in 1995 Victoria Williams toured with the Loose band. Critics swooned and acclaimed her live shows as “beautiful” and “intimate”, set lists varied every night, special guests happened along. Finally they reached a town hall (somewhere) and this Record Store Day set was created. Seven of the 15 tracks are taken from ‘Loose’ but they are reduced Darwin-like, made even more personal. She harks back to the earlier Donnie Darko-like strangeness of ‘Crazy Mary’, sketches small town America on the ‘Summer Of Drugs’ and welcomes Lou Reed for a duet on ‘Sweet Jane’.

No Depression at the time enthused about a live show where 50 people were in touching distance of greatness. It was the perfect platform they believed, trying hard to still keep Victoria their own personal secret. This live set, with its laissez faire feel and impromptu vibe is as close as it gets to a personal performance. Van Dyke’s veneer is rubbed off and every song positively tingles right through to a gorgeous version of ‘Over The Rainbow’. It’s a fairytale to believe in.

Hello Monday

by the partae July 31, 2017
written by the partae

How did the the idea for Hello Monday! come about?

You know, summer in Berlin is really a special time. After the long, cold, gray winter is over, people really come to life and are out and about all over the city. So we thought, why not give these people a place to hang out at the scenic canal, while having a drink and some food with their friends.

I guess after a big weekend of partying in Berlin a Monday party would help ease the party people into the week,

is this the case?  How has the response been?

Hahah, depends on how you like to be ‚eased in’. There are a lot of after hours on Mondays in Berlin but “hello monday!“ is not an after hour. We start at 2pm and the first people who show up are usually freelancers, students, some people on their lunch break and the likes. During the early evening a lot of people from the surrounding music biz offices join in for a drink after work. And even later there’s always a big crowd of people who simply come to dance. I’d guess on a usual Monday we have about 400 people coming only between 9pm and 1am. So yeah, the response has been absolutely overwhelming. People are taking the opportunity for a chill Monday party with both hands really. And we’re super happy to provide it.

What can be expect from attending a Hello Monday! event?

First and foremost – good soulful House music! Apart from our close Suol family, Till Von Sein, Meggy, Larse, Tender Games and us, we invite renowned artists who we deeply admire, such as Jimpster, Lovebirds, Atjazz, Ian Pooley, but also gems like Kolja Gerstenberg, Carlo, Laurence Guy, Eluize, who we want to spotlight because they are just so good, even if some of them are still a bit under the radar. Apart from that, a very beautiful open air venue by the canal, good drinks, good food and a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere all around.

Who do you have playing in the coming weeks?

We’ll have Fred Everything, El_Txef_A, Kolja Gerstenberg, Thatmanmonkz, Zepherin Saint, Atjazz, Black Loops, Slow Hands and Jimpster in the hello monday!  booth in the coming weeks, just to throw a few names out there..

Where is the venue and how much is entry?

Ipse is located on Schlesische Str. in Kreuzberg and here’s the thing: It’s FREE! So just drop by and have a good time.

Prophets of Rage release ‘Living On The 110’ video

by the partae July 31, 2017
written by the partae

RELEASE LIVING ON THE 110 VIDEO

Incendiary video, underscoring issues of homelessness and inequality, secretly projected across various landmarks in L.A. and N.Y.C.

Prophets Of Rage: Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, Brad Wilk, Chuck D, B-Real and DJ Lord have released the video for Living On The 110, the lead single from their forthcoming, self-titled debut LP which is set for release September 15 through Sony Music Australia.

PRE-ORDER PROPHETS OF RAGE HERE

Watch Living On The 110 here:

In true guerrilla, grassroots fashion – a Prophets Of Rage trademark – the band secretly showcased the provocative new clip earlier this week projecting it across dozens of specially chosen locations in L.A. and New York that illustrate the underreported crisis of homelessness, hunger, poverty and inequality that are devastating populations across America.  In Los Angeles, some of the sites included the 110 Freeway Underpass, Skid Row and Rodeo Drive.  In New York, the video was transmitted onto Trump International Hotel & Tower, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the site of the Occupy Wall Street protests, among many others.  For a clip chronicling the events along with the Living On The 110 video, visit the band’s Facebook page here.
Further, Prophets Of Rage have partnered with WhyHunger, a leading global hunger organization dedicated to building the movement to end hunger and poverty by connecting people to nutritious, affordable food and by supporting grassroots solutions that inspire self-reliance and community empowerment. Fans can contribute to WhyHunger via a link located on the band’s Facebook page where the video is available.
Living On The 110 reflects Prophets Of Rage’s preferred method of addressing social issues from the ground up. Last July, the band performed a surprise show on a Skid Row rooftop in downtown L.A., raising awareness of the homelessness issue in the heart of one of the country’s largest dispossessed populations. The group took their message of activism and grassroots change to 35 cities last summer during their “Make America Rage Again Tour,” with a portion of proceeds from each show benefitting local homelessness charities.

“In today’s world of cute, mindless computerized jingles about how great we have it, making heavy music with real instruments and addressing an important injustice like homelessness is more than a choice for me- it’s an obligation,” stated Tim Commerford. “This video is a banger all about this, turn it up if you’re not ignorant.”

Tom Morello added: “In our video for Living On The 110 homeless people get their say. The homeless are not some sub species of humanity as they are often portrayed in the media (when they are portrayed at all) but PEOPLE, no different from you or I. They deserve to be heard and we intend to amplify their voices.”

At its core, Prophets Of Rage functions not only on a love of music, but a deep belief in its power as a tool, and a weapon. Woven into the band’s DNA are influences as varied as The Clash, KRS-One, and Johnny Cash, as well as the undeniable ideals and aesthetics of its predecessors: Public Enemy’s frenzied, racing textures, Rage’s jaw-melting riffs, Cypress Hill’s manically playful party energy. “The music is the passport to the world,” Chuck D says, describing the unique bond the group shares. “It’s not always a given to have members who want to go where few have gone.”

Suicideyear Hate Songs

On his LuckyMe debut, Suicideyear has delivered six fresh tracks recorded in his new home of New Orleans that showcase his continued development at the forefront of futurist hip hop production. Each track glistens and evolves in its own way from the warmth of “Summer Hate” through to the more club oriented “Mosh Mosh” and “Alert (Winter Hate)“, everything remains within his unique outsider viewpoint on the city.

WEN‘s Big Dada debut sees his continued evocation of brooding productions shared previously on a series of EP’s and singles via such esteemed labels as Tectonic, Soundman Chronicles, Tempaand Keysound. CARVE + GAZE is a seamless, detailed masterwork that listens like an allegory, each track a symbol and component hinting at something larger, albeit hidden, for listeners to uncover on their own.

The Murlocs Old Locomotive

written by the partae

The Murlocs‘ Old Locomotive is 13 tracks of blistering rock ‘n’ roll full of vintage hooks, twists and grooves and mind-melting guitar and harmonica licks. Produced by King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard frontman Stu Mackenzie, the album stands against, according to singer Ambrose Kenny-Smith, “rock ‘n’ roll extinction” and that each song touches on abandonment and the “continuous search for a better alternative“.

“Their captivating mix of psychedelic rock and blues
seems to have struck a chord.

Robot Koch

Where are you currently based?

I moved to LA in 2013, after 15 years of living in Berlin. it was time for a change.

Please tell us about your Diynamic debut EP ‘FLUID’ that you released last month with DJ support from solomun, Pete Tong and BBC essential mix etc:

My friend Chi Thanh made a remix of a song I made with Delhia De France. I sent that to Solomun and he started playing it in his sets, it became his “afterhour secret weapon” he said. Diynamic wanted to release the song and asked me if i was into the idea of doing a whole EP on their label. i thought it was a great opportunity to reach people that  didn`t so far get in touch with my music. i always like to change things up and keep evolving as an artist, so this EP made sense to me.

It has since gotten lots of love from various DJs and including Pete tTng, who played it on his BBC essential mix, as well as lots of spotify playlists and DJ charts. and many people really love “fluid” which i made with french collaborator Julien Marchal, it´s my fave song on the EP.

The song “Heart As A River” from your album (Particle Fields) has been licensed for the new worldwide Sony campaign, the ad with your music is on air on TV and in cinemas all over the world.

 How has the response been?

It`s been fantastic, the song started charting all over Europe. the reactions are really positive.

Has this massive exposure opened up many new opportunities?

Yes, a lot more people reached out that didn`t know my music so far, both new fans and industry people, so it`s definitely a blessing to get exposure like that.

How did this come about?

The ad agency that worked with Sony found the song via a music supervisor I think, my agent then got in touch with them and took it from there, it was a real thriller because many major labels and publishers were pushing their songs for this campaign. it was not clear if our song was gonna stick, for almost 2 months, until we finally got the notice that they thought it was the best song for the ad and it was all confirmed.

We hear that your getting into film scoring a bit more now days, you scored this short film by director Eliot Lee Hazel that just premiered on Nowness a few days ago.  How did you get into film scoring?

Films have always been my passion, even before I got into music. I was a big movie geek, really into sci fi and fantasy, i wanted to become a filmmaker when I was a kid. life took a different route and I became a musician/composer/producer instead, but making music for film feels like going full circle with my child hood passion.

I recently signed with WME, who represent big film composers like Hans Zimmer or Trent Reznor, but also newer artists like Haxan Cloak or mica levi, I feel very blessed to be on their roster, I´m yet to score my first feature film though.

How do you score a film?

Writing to picture is a different process to just writing a song. You really wanna amplify the emotion or narrative that the pictures give you, so it´s a very interesting and challenging process. but I always write very visual anyways, I have images in my head when i write, just when I score it`s not an image in my head but a real image of an actual film i`m writing to.

https://www.nowness.com/series/video-art-visions/we-visit-often-billy-boyd-cape

Can we expect more of this from you in the future?

Yes! absolutely, I just finished scoring another short film by french director Mickael Le Goff, should be out soon.

You have been very busy lately, you’ve started your own label: Trees&Cyborgs as a platform you and other artists to release.

Why did you choose to start a label?

I think it`s all about owning your own rights nowadays, starting my own label was the logical next step. Own your rights and own your power as an artist is the best advise that I can give to other artists who approach me and ask me for feedback on their songs and where to take them.

What can we anticipate being released under Trees&Cyborgs?

https://www.treesandcyborgs.com/

It`s a platform for my own music, as well as music of artists I collaborate with.

Your touring schedule is a little quiet at the moment, your hands are quite full with remixes and producing for yourself and others.

Yes I really enjoy being in the studio and creating new music all the time. I don`t miss touring. but that might change and i`ll get back into playing shows, right now it`s not an objective for me though.

You’ve just produced the new single for Oliver Tree, a new artist on Atlantic records.  How did this come about?

We started working 3 years ago, made a few songs, then recently his manger reached out and said that song we made a while back is coming out next week and Oliver signed to Atlantic in the meantime. that was awesome news, I had almost forgotten about the track.

What can we expect for the future?

I feel very inspired right now and am working on lots of new music, there will be new releases that I`m involved in as a writer and producer coming out this year still, watch my socials more info on that.

Who are you listening to at the moment?

I made a playlist with some artists that I enjoy and some of my own stuff mixed up:

ABOUT ALICE COOPER’S PARANORMAL:

By Brad Tolinski

“PARANORMAL is like 12 great episodes of The Twilight Zone,” laughs Alice Cooper, “each song tells its own twisted little tale.”

Yes, the inimitable King of Shock Rock is back with his first album of original material in six years. It’s a weird and wonderful collection of guitar-driven delights, but what else would you expect from the composer of beautifully warped classics like “Under My Wheels,” “I’m Eighteen” and “Billion Dollar Babies”?

Produced by long-time collaborator Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd, Deep Purple), and featuring guests like ZZ Top guitarist Billy Gibbons, U2 drummer Larry Mullen Jr., Deep Purple bassist Roger Glover, as well as a highly anticipated mini-reunion of the original Alice Cooper band members, Paranormalis full of surprises and riveting turns.

“My definition of paranormal is something that is ‘other than normal’ or ‘alongside of normal’,” says Cooper. “You could say my whole career has been that. I would look at what was normal and step left of it. That’s what gets people’s attention. They’d listen to our music and see our show and say, ‘That’s so strange…oh yeah, that’s so Alice.”

In keeping with his passion for the unexpected, the singer decided to steer clear of writing another concept album like 2011’s Welcome 2 My Nightmare, and focused on creating an explosive collection of unforgettable standalone songs.

“Bob Ezrin and I wanted to break the mold,” says Alice. “I said, let’s get 20 different ideas from 20 different places, put our spin on them, and go with whatever turns out the best.”

Out of the 20 tunes, they picked a dozen to immortalize, each played for thrills, chills and even a few laughs. “Dynamite Road” tells the story of a band that has a deadly encounter with the devil. In “Fireball,” the singer has a bad dream about the end of the world, only to wake up in time to see it happening in real life. “Genuine American Girl” is about a tough guy who is transgender and not afraid to let the world know about it, and the title track is the tender story about a girl and her best ghoul friend.

“Alice doesn’t have a problem being scary,” Cooper says about his rock and roll alter ego. “He likes to be a villain, but he also has a slapstick side. He’ll threaten to slit your throat, and then slip on a banana peel.”

Banana peels aside, perhaps the biggest surprise on Paranormal is the historic two-song mini-reunion with his former bandmates, guitarist Michael Bruce, bassist Dennis Dunaway and drummer Neal Smith.

“When the original band broke up in 1975, there was no bad blood,” explains Cooper.  “There were no lawsuits-we had just burned out the creative process. We had gone to high school together and had recorded something like five Platinum albums in a row. We were never out of sight of each other for 10 years. Everybody just went their own way. Neal, Dennis and I always stayed in touch. Mike disappeared for a while and Glen Buxton passed away in 1997, which was a big blow.”

“But last year Neal called me up and said, ‘I have a couple of songs.’ I said great, bring ’em over. Then he said Mike was stopping by, so I had them come to my house and we just worked on a few things for a week. Then Dennis called up and said, I got a couple songs. So, I thought, hey let’s do this! When you listen to record, it just fits right in.”

One could argue that the two songs, “Genuine American Girl” and the Who-inspired “You and All Your Friends,” do more than fit in. They stand out, as in their iconic sound being instantly recognizable.

Like any great entertainer, Alice Cooper is compelled to over deliver. In addition to the 12 new tracks on Paranormal, the singer has included a bonus disc of his current band playing killer live versions of some of The Coop’s greatest hits, such as “No More Mr. Nice Guy,” “Billion Dollar Babies” and “School’s Out.” Think of it as a taste of what to expect at an Alice Cooper concert circa 2017, including a summer co-headline North American tour with the equally legendary Deep Purple.

“This album is like the sideshow at a circus,” Cooper concludes. “It’s a little creepy. There’s a three-headed monkey and the snake woman, but you’re intrigued. That’s where Alice lives, and it’s been the place to go for 50years.”

The Head And The Heart Release Video For “City Of Angels,” Fall Tour Dates Announced

by the partae July 31, 2017

Watch/Share the video for “City of Angels”

“City of Angels” was directed by Claire Marie Vogel, who had this to say about the video: “When The Head And The Heart asked me to join them on the road to make a video for “City of Angels,” there were many moments, big and small, that made it a trip of a lifetime. Record store shopping in a thunderstorm, backstage birthday parties, a summer ski lift through Catskills mountains, all night bonfires on a California beach, surprise songs in a Charlottesville bar, mini golf beside a river. It was a thrill to be a welcomed fly on the wall and treated as one of the gang. I knew ending the trip at the Monterey Pop Festival would be special, but when we found ourselves in a charmingly odd practice room – the band rehearsing with Michelle Phillips of The Mamas & the Papas, and Lou Adler, a founder of the festival throwing his two cents in on their arrangement – it felt utterly surreal.”

The band have been making their rounds at all of the biggest festivals including Coachella, Hangout Festival, Sasquatch!, Governor’s Ball, Bonnaroo, Monterey International Pop Festival, and Mountain Jam. They just returned from BST Hyde Park in London where they supported Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. The band will perform at Newport Folk Festival and Lollapalooza to round out the summer festival circuit.  Fans will be able to stream The Head And The Heart’s Newport Folk Festival performance here tomorrow, July 28.

The Head And The Heart are also playing two nights at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, supported by their friends Grouplove.  This fall, they will embark on a U.S. headline run, joined on the road by The Shelters, Dr. Dog in Nashville, The Lone Bellow in New York and Phosphorescent in D.C. See below for a full rundown of all upcoming shows.

The band’s single “All We Ever Knew” spent 9 weeks at AAA and hit #1 at Alternative, their first #1 at the format. Their next single, “Rhythm & Blues,” also hit #1 at AAA and latest track “City of Angels” just impacted at radio and is working its way up the charts. Signs of Light was released last fall on Warner Bros. Records, debuting at #5 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the Rock Album Chart. The Head and The Heart went on to play their hit single “All We Ever Knew” on Ellen, The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, CBS Saturday Morning, Conan, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Late Late Show With James Corden.

MYRKUR Debuts New Video “Ulvinde” ‘Mareridt’  Coming September 15 via Relapse Records

Special Performances at Brooklyn’s Rough Trade + St. Vitus

Watch + Share “Ulvinde” via YouTube Here

MYRKUR’s stunning new video “Ulvinde”, directed by Mats Ek, beautifully captures her longing for a place in nature, in peace, away from the ‘real’ world – a world that she explains “often feels I cannot and was never meant to function in.” Inner and outer demons all come to life in breathtaking footage captured across Norwegian landscapes and scenery.

“Ulvinde” debuted via NPR today describing MYRKUR’s delivery “full of sustaining notes that subtly decay, is reminiscent of choral music – with all the ritualism, religiosity and awe it entails.” It is the second single from MYRKUR’s impending album ‘Mareridt’ coming September 15 on Relapse. “Ulvinde” features Amalie Bruun on violin, guitar, piano, Wolves In The Throne Room’s Aaron Weaver on drums, alongside Andreas Lynge and William Hayes on guitars plus choir singers Veslemøy Heyerdahl and Ida Sandberg Motzfelt.

MYRKUR’s is renowned Danish composer and classically trained multi-instrumentalist, Amalie Bruun. Her sophomore album ‘Mareridt’ (translation: Nightmare) is a rich juxtaposition of the dark and the light; the moon and the mother earth; the witch and the saint. MYRKUR explores deeper into the mysterious and the feminine with 11 tracks that further progress her visionary blend of metal with gorgeous, stirring melodies, dark folk passages, choral arrangements and superb, horrific beauty.

Further taking MYRKUR to new artistic heights are lyrics in multiple languages, an unforgettable collaboration with Chelsea Wolfe and an array of special instrumentation including violin, mandola, folk drums, nyckelharpa (an ancient Swedish key harp), and Kulning (an ancient Scandinavian herding call). ‘Mareridt’ is a profound manifestation of nightmares that demonstrates MYRKUR as one of the truly exceptional artists of our time.

Like a marriage of King Diamond’s ‘Them’ with Tchaikovsky’s ‘Swan Lake’, ‘Mareridt’ is a carefully composed concept freed from genre. The compositions sweep into one another like a soundtrack designed to guide the listener through emotional turmoil. One minute the songs are fighting back, the next lulling you to submission. Timeless, triumphant, powerful and hypnotic, ‘Mareridt’ is a sonic nightmare that you never want to escape.

MYRKUR is:
