THE BAY RAYS

What is your name and role within the band?

I am Harry and I am the lead singer and I play guitar.

How did you start?

We’ve been playing in bands together on and off for about 10 years, all went our separate ways and then started playing covers in bars together around two years ago which then became The Bay Rays.

Where are you based?

Kent in the south east of England.

Please give an example of your music writing process?

In regards to the band normally one of us would have a musical idea to play in rehearsal which we all add to, I then take that away and write the lyrics to it, the music tends to come first in our writing process.

What are you working on right now?

Currently demoing ideas and songs to put forward for a 6 track mini album to be released later on in the year.

What is your gear setup?

I play a Fender classic 72 tele deluxe through a Fender blues junior amplifier, various distortion pedals with echoes and reverb. Looking to expand everything when I can.

What do you like to do outside of music and does it affect your music?

I work outside for my day job, which in turn gives me solitude to process lyrics and ideas.

How would you describe your music genre?

Alternative Rock.

Do you know any music theory?

Basic. I basically know the name of chords and go from there.

What are your plans for the future?

At the moment to keep on writing and releasing music.

How did you get into music?

I listened to all my brothers CDs when I was young and decided to pick up a guitar when I was about 13, I was heavily into pop punk as a teenager!

What are you listening to at the moment?

Kendrick Lamar, Mac Demarco, Childish Gambino, Whitney.

When are you playing next?

Next we play at our local Venue called The Forum in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.
