Nicole Millar returns to the spotlight today with new single ‘Blindfolded’ and it’s out of sight! Built on sultry synth beats and Nicole’s tantalising vocals, ‘Blindfolded’ delivers a pure electro-pop escape just in time for summer.
Effortlessly cool and catchy, ‘Blindfolded’ was premiered on triple j on Monday and unveiled live for the first time at Rolling Stone Live Lodge in Sydney on Tuesday night. It follows the massive success of singles ‘Tremble’, with 6 million+ plays on Spotify and ‘Signals’ at 2 million+ plays.
Co-produced by Kilter, ‘Blindfolded’ showcases Millar’s songwriting prowess, as she allows her lyrics to take centre stage. It is her most personal song to date, and reads like a page ripped from her diary. As depicted in the powerful accompanying video, it details the dangers of playing games in relationships when you don’t see eye to eye. View HERE.
“I find it really hard to trust people as most men in my life have let me down,” she reveals candidly. “This song definitely draws on that. The feeling that someone isn’t being completely honest and they’re hiding something from you.”
“I get it, I’m sorry / I thought that we would be so honest, we promised / Don’t stay mad at me,” she sings in her favourite line of the song.
“The second verse reflects my side of the story, where I’m overthinking it and scared I’ll lose him,” she confides. “Showing all of yourself to someone can be very scary and make you feel vulnerable. But, if you don’t share your secrets, how can you ever change? I’ve learnt from experience.”
‘Blindfolded’ offers the first glimpse of her long-awaited debut album.
“I’ve been writing it over the last couple of years,” she reveals. “It’s taken me to Los Angeles, Stockholm and around Australia and I’ve got to work with so many amazing producers. I’ve been putting my heart into this one so I’m very excited.”
In global news, Casablanca and Republic Records are excited to partner with EMI Music for the worldwide release of ‘Blindfolded’. Brett Alperowitz, Senior Vice President, A&R, Republic Records and General Manager, Casablanca Records says, “Nicole continues to be a force in the Electronic music community and her time to shine as a solo artist is upon us. As market leaders in the US, we have great expectations for her best music yet.”
